Palazzo Larderel Via Tornabuoni Florence: the entrance

Palazzo Strozzi, one of the most beautiful palaces in Via Tornabuoni in Florence, close to the Palazzo Larderel will host the exhibition “Picasso and the Spanish modernity ” from September 20th, 2014 to January 15th, 2015.

After the admirable success of the exhibition on “Picasso, Mirò, Dali” in 2011, the 2014  exhibition will present major works of one of the greatest painters of the twentieth century, Pablo Picasso and  as well as other  major Spanish artists such as Joan Miró, Salvador Dalí, Juan Gris, Marie Blanchard, Julio González.  This exhibition comes after another great one devoted to two masters of mannerism: Pontormo and Rosso Fiorentino  which was held until July 2014. Palazzo Strozzi therefore takes us from the “modern manner” of the 16th century‘s to the “modern art” of the 20th century.

Thanks to the collaboration between the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, the exhibition will present around 90 works of the production of Picasso and other artists, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings and a film shootings. Among the works on display are famous masterpieces such as the Portrait of Dora Maar, the Horse Head and the Painter, the model of Picasso, Siurana, the Path by Miró, as well as  drawings, etchings and paintings of Picasso preparatory to the great masterpiece Guernica, which have never been shown in such numbers outside of  Spain.
