Chianti Classico’s Festivals are starting next to Hotel Villa the Barone!

I have great news to announce: grape harvesting has just begun in Chianti, in Tuscany, and wine festivals and feasts are actively prepared to celebrate the Chianti Classico !

Festivities start Thursday, September 9th with the “Festa del Vino” (Wine Festival) in  Greve in Chianti, 20 minutes by car from Villa the Barone. The following Friday, September 17th begins the 16 th Edition of “ Vino al Vino” in the medieval square of Panzano in Chianti, just a 20 minute walk from Villa Le Barone. The world-famous producers of Chianti Classico and IGT wines will be present. Their vineyards are all around me in Panzano: Cennatoio, Cafaggio, Fontodi, Lamole di Lamole, Le Fonti, Molino di Grace, Panzanello, Riseccoli…), and   also very close to me in Radda or Castellina. You will also find many biological wines, (which I am by the way also serving at Villa le Barone)! You can acquire a specially engraved glass for your wine tasting and, going from stand to stand, compare the various wines and discover all their flavors. The territory of Panzano in Chianti, on the Greve County, is renowned for its unique combination of altitude ( 350 to 450 meters above sea level), marly soil,  sunny, hot and dry micro-climate. This is the ideal soil for the “Sangiovese” grape, which must constitute approximately 80% of Chianti Classico. It gives coloured, fruity and slightly acidic wines that wonderfully accompany our Italian tomato-based cuisine.

I, as known as Villa Le Barone,  am now an accomodation in Chianti and don’t produce wine anymore, but I participate actively in these traditional celebrations! My Tuscan cooks, Fernanda and Edi, have already prepared the “schiacciata fiorentina all ‘uva”, one of our local typical cakes! And I offer, from my terraces and gardens, multiple points of view on the autumn colors, that guests can contemplate,  enjoying a glass of Chianti, of course!
