What do we do at Villa le Barone in Chianti, when the hotel closes during autumn and winter? We are still working hard because there is a lot of cleaning up, tidying up, painting and maintenance to do! We are not on vacation! We are preparing to receive You for the reopening for Easter, on April 14, 2017!
However, first, two days after closing, we had a very relaxing nice dinner together in a nearby restaurant!
And afterwards, work again! All the chairs and tables on the restaurant’s terrace were washed and tucked inside. The same goes for the deck chairs around the pool. Some were deteriorated, and we bought new ones. We have washed and tidied up all the umbrellas, be it the whites on the lawn near the pool, or the blues and whites around the pool, or the yellows that welcome our guests in front of the hotel entrance.
We ordered the tulips and daffodils bulbs which will be planted in December and will illuminate the garden next spring. We will also replace some rosebushes around the olive trees.
Inside, all rooms have been checked, also taking into consideration the comments of our hosts. Our Florence craft man, Leonardo Becucci, will have to make again some lampshades. A number of curtains, eiderdowns, beds’ covers will be done by our master upholster, one of the greatest craftsman upholsterers in Florence. We also made an appointment with the enterprise “Pulitex” in Florence which will come before the opening to clean the curtains, the carpets, the sofas and the armchairs…We also have to do a lot of painting: door frames, rooms, shutters…! And then we also checked the bathrooms. We have almost redone all of them over the last few years, but a bathtub has been damaged, it must be replaced!
Many guests wished us a “good holiday after the closure”. No, we are not on holiday, we are preparing Villa le Barone to better welcome You next year: we are reopening on 14th April 2017, just before Easter!
