Villa le Barone, in Panzano in Chianti in Tuscany opened its doors forty years ago with something in mind: Guests, not Customers, not Clients, not Accounts … just Guests sharing our old Villa during a few days, a week or more! Irrelevant of whether our Guests come from Bordeaux, Derby, Atlanta or Johannesburg they all have something in common … they have travelled miles to discover, relax, enjoy … and feel at home. Feeling at home in a different country where one often does not, most of the time, speak the local language means being welcomed with a smile and a “benvenuto” greeting, being offered without having barely spoken a cup of espresso, caffé macchiato, cappuccino, caffé lungo, caffé americano, … or a nice cup of earl grey with a little cake on the side … but what about that very urgent need for a cold beer after returning from jogging, that desire to prepare your own drink, the way you do it at home, while waiting for your significant other to come down for dinner, satisfying your girlfriend’s crave for a diet coke, getting your child an ice cream or for yourself a delicious coffee “mousse” by the pool?
Our answer has been for the last forty years: “open up to Guests and let them help themselves to whatever they want on the spur of the moment” at our Honesty Bar in the ancient kitchen next to our Reception or at the bar by the pool … so, open up that bottle of beer, uncork that wine bottle, pour yourself a good pre dinner whiskey, have a snort of after dinner “grappa” … and just pen down on the slip of paper next to the drinks your room number and what you had! Easy? … Most of our Guests love it! By coming to Villa le Barone you have trusted us to be capable of welcoming and serving you to your satisfaction … how could we act differently from trusting you entirely? … On the other hand, if you desire to be served the classical way, just ask our Reception to serve you any drink you want and we’ll do it with the usual pleasure! But also feel at ease with our Honesty Bar!
